Longterm exhibition
Nitra
The long-term exhibition The tour of Nitra region animal kingdom aims to raise awareness of biodiversity and the need to protect animal species in our region, while also introducing visitors to the fauna of the Nitra and Zlaté Moravce districts.
The Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area is part of the mentioned districts. The most significant attraction is the largest mammal in Europe, the majestic Maned Bison. His origin comes from today’s Belarus, where he was deported from. The exhibition also includes a rich collection of birds, where you can admire various species, from small songbirds, through intelligent ravens, to the largest owl in Slovakia – the eagle owl. There is an assumption that the eagle owl reaches its highest population density in Slovakia right here in the territory of the Ponitrie Protected Landscape Area. In addition to the animals already mentioned, you have the opportunity to view preparations of other forest animals found in the mentioned locations, such as wild boar, European mouflon, red fox or weasels. The exhibition is complemented by interactive educational activities that will allow you to learn about the animals.
